The first day here
Our first day here was a busy one. Cristina walked us to correos (the post office) which turned out to be much farther and confusing than we thought. After our whole group got there we all walked to the Centra de lenguas modernas (out school) and we had a long orinentation about academics and housing. We will not have classes on fridays except for a couple make up classes which is great. I will take a placement exam on monday and then start my 4 week intensive course. Then we will have a 1 week break and another placement course and official classes will start in February. I am nervous because there are 2 campuses and one that we visited today was very far away from not only our house but also correos. Maggie and my house seems to be very far away from correos also so we will definitely be getting our daily dose of walking! After the long orientation it was raining so Maggie and I braved the weather and attempted to find our house alone. We walked for a while with some other people and then finally made our way home. We ate with Maria and Cristina and then layed down for about 45 minutes and then walked again with warmer clothes to correos again to take a walking tour through the city. We were supposed to go on a bus sight seeing tour but they changed it to monday because the weather will be better then. Maggie and I took the long walk home from the tour after buying a hair dryer from a random store and then rested a little and ate dinner. We are currently nervous to try a converter because we don't want to fry our computer! We tried giving the spanish directions to Cristina but she didn't know how many watts the outlet had... so we'll see how it goes! Tomorrow I am excited to have tapas with our family and some of their friends. For now... more unpacking!
